Pacing
There are a lot of comedy, romance, and specially drama at this series, and a lot of powerful emotions are ever present.
The plot is certainly interesting and unique, and because of a family curse on the Sohma family, a lot of extra dramas also start to happen. Fruits Baskets presents us with pleasant and believable characters and character development, and the viewer will eventually find out that some times the emotion really do weights more than reasoning.
Although with humor, this is a serious title, but quite a good call for all viewers
Conclusion
With a some times pleasant atmosphere, while others quite dramatic to the extent of almost being a melodrama, Fruits Baskets might have been slightly better if not focused all about Tohru: There are a lot of interesting characters to develop. Also, Tohru is too much of the 'perfect girl' at her drama and eventually makes her actions quite predictable. Even that been true, if someone like her existed, her actions would be exactly those portrayed at the title.
With several astonishing moments of drama, humor or romance, this is a nice call for every fan, and also, if you get emotional, then be ready to shed some tears.
Be warned this is one of those 'Drag-romances': where the characters love each other but never confess.
