![]() 1 of 1 ![]() 1408 posts So, Firefox 3 is a big advancement, it has a terrible bug only INTERNET EXPLORER 6 HAD: it IGNORES css overflow HIDDEN if the contents of s div change dinamically. Guess what, the sliders show ALL contents even though it's explicitly telling it on CSS and JAVASCRIPT not to (overflow: hidden with no width set)
Thus, for all of you users of "the better browser ever", you are stuck with a browser which will crush the layout of the site, and know what, I don't give a damn, I'm not "cracking" and "hacking" the CSS just for FF3 when IE7, IE8, Opera, Safari and EVEN INTERNET EXPLORER 6 can handle the site. CONGRATULATIONS ON A STEP BACK ON WEB STANDARDS TO ALL FIREFOX 3 CREW! 44 posts I'm still using the previous one ^^. Been too lazy to update, but I think i'll do that today.
43 posts More browser compatibility woes. See, this is why I don't usually take web design assignments (unless they really pay well, or I'm cash strapped, or something...).
1408 posts I reported this bug on bugzilla, and found out they know about this issue since december but THEY DON'T CARE, since W3C standards are not clear on this issue and leave to the implementation to decide, they "CHOOSE" this way. Lots of people complained but seams their team simply doesn't care.
I can create a HACK to fix the index page on FF3, but I won't. I REFUSE to create a hack for NEW browsers, I always thought hacks were supposed to be all about old non-compliant browsers. This bug exists on Safari (all versions) and IE6, and I fixed it with such hack (yeah, a simple "if FF3" on the javascript will solve that, but I won't do that), but that's because they are either old or somewhat experimental (Safari Windows is hardly a finished product). If you want to "help FF3" to improve, you can register at Bugzilla and "vote" on this bug to be solved: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=409736 1408 posts Well writing this from Chrome .... for a beta version seams sturdy, though it was unstable as hell at work... and I really wish I could disable the tyspell checking
If google keeps the good work, bye bye FF, perhaps even IE oO 44 posts I've been reading a bit about the new google browser. I guess I should go give it a try ^^
43 posts Google is going to be watching over your shoulder while you surf. Can you trust them not to be evil? Hmmmm?
1408 posts The same old coorporate paranoia from times like "Microsoft is watching everything you do with windows" stuff huh?
Well, but that's also why I don't have a gmail, nor orkut, nor anything google ... except the google spy-bar, I mean, toolbar =p 1 of 1 ![]() |
